    The High Line in New York is a 1.45 mile long public park built on a long-abandoned elevated railroad. Railway lines for the movement of freight trains on the West Side of New York City ran through this area.

    In 2014, phase 3 opened for public use
    Then finally in 2019, the Spur on 10th Avenue opens to the public
    Additionally, in 2023 the Moynihan Connector path opened and this helps connect neighbourhoods and helps New York’s commuters

    Since its opening, it has generated $5 billion in real estate investment and $1.4 billion in tax revenue for the city of New York.

    The High Line is owned by the City of New York and it operates under a licence agreement with NYC Parks.
    There are many recreational activities for people such as art programmes, cultural programmes and events that take place for many different people to experience.

    Because the space is quite narrow it can get quite crowded and this means that it will take commuters longer to travel to work.
    There is no children’s play equipment
    Some people say it is causing gentrification of the local neighbourhoods because of the amount of tourists that come. This has increased the demand and cost of living in the surrounding neighbourhoods, displacing local people.
