  • role of PH in medieval
    • mayors and town councils knew improvements were needed but would be expensive so they rarely made any reforms or progress.
    • however the occasional law was passed such as in 1388 when a £20 fine was introduced for anybody throwing dung or entrails into water sources.
    • however this was only in some towns and they didn't have anybody to enforce this rule
  • role of public health in the renaissance
    during the renaissance there surgeons were gradually given more respect due to the work of Ambroise Pare and HenryVlll's charter that made barber surgeons a respectable profession. Alongside this charter it granted surgeons 4 body's a year to dissect which helped medical progression.
    • 1745 parliament created a company of surgeons. they set up traing standards which are still used to this day.

    chadwicks report after cholera forced parliament into taking some action
    1848 first ph act published but was limited as it was not compolsory
    by 1867working class men were given the vote which led to the death of the llaiz faire
    1875 public health act forced medical officers of health and supply f fresh water.
  • role of ph in modern
    1906 liberal health reforms following the reports of booth and rowntree
    • free school meals
    • 08 free pension to over 70s
    • 11 mps got paid which made it a profesion open to all not just the wealthy
    work of Benvan and Beveridge culminated in the formation of the NHS which allowed 8 mil people to see a doctor for the first time
