  • The court has a discretion when it comes to excusing and delaying jury duty.
  • Reasons for excusals or delays could be:
    • An appointment
    • Having to sit an exam
    • Being aged over 70
    • Not being physically fit
    • Booked holidays
  • Members of the force - A special rule is applied to serving members of the force. If their commanding officer certifies that jury duty will affect their job, they are excused
