Problems with dialysis

• Disadvantages:

  1. Dialysis is not a pleasant experience and many patients have to have a dialysis session three times a week - each session takes about 3-4 hours
  2. Can leas to infections and cause blood clots
  3. Dialysis patients have to be careful about what they eat to avoid a particular type of ion building up between dialysis sessions
  4. Kidney dialysis machines are expensive things for the NHS to run
