inferential statistics

Cards (10)

  • Chi squared test
Used when the test is a correlation or independent measures and has nominal data. Shows that there is a difference.
  • Sign test
used when the test is repeated measures and has nominal data
  • Spearman's rho test
used when the test is a correlation and uses ordinal data
  • Mann-Whitney Test
used when the it uses independent measures and ordinal data
  • Wilcoxon test
used when it is repeated measures and uses ordinal data
  • degrees of freedom
    (number of rows - 1) x (number of columns - 1)
  • If the inferential statistic has an R in the name, the observed value must be higher than the critical value to be significant
  • If the inferential statistic doe not have an R in the name, the observed value must be lower than the critical value for it to be significant.
  • when a test is significant
we reject the the null hypothesis
  • when a test is not significant
    we accept the null hypothesis
