  • How are elements laid out in the modern periodic table?

    By increasing atomic number.
  • Where are metals found on the periodic table?

    Left side.
  • Where are non metals found on the periodic table?

    Right side.
  • How are elements with similar properties arranged?

    In columns.
  • What are the vertical columns called?

    Groups.
  • What does the group number tell you?

    Number of electrons on the outer shell.
  • If you know the property of one element, you can predict the properties of other elements in that group.
  • You can also use the groups to make predictions of reactivity trends.
  • What is each row called?
    Period.
  • What does each period represent?

    Another full shell of electrons.
