Method
Pp asked to recall a story. After 15 minutes they were asked to recall the story. The retelling of the story was repeated a number of times over the coming weeks
Results
Bartlett found out that participants recalled different parts of the story and filled in the parts of the story and filled in the parts that they had forgotten using their own cultural experiences
Conclusion
Individuals could only recall parts of the story and used their knowledge of society and their culture to 'reconstruct' the memories
