    • Total War
      • Goebells declared all the German people were now involved in total war, and all resources had to be given to win after an unsuccessful invasion of the Soviet Union where 2 million soldiers died
      • both men and women had to work including prisoners of war
      • unnecessary services i.e. sport temas and postal service were shut down to save fuel and establish a Home Guard
    • Rationing
      • products were limited and there were clothing restrictions so only the necessities were kept
      • there was shortages in food and products as rations continued and eventually families were given a loaf of bread and a bit of meat
    • Allied Bombing
      • German moralle decreased as RAF bombed large cities and civilian targets - 40,000 people died in the Hamburg bombing
      • War production decreased as resources and goods couldn't be transported to the front lines and factories as the RAF bombed railway lines

    • 1943
      • men and women put into factories to help war effort (mandatory)
