Define Gene 
A section of DNA containing the base sequence that codes for a protein
What does it mean by the genetic code? 
the sequence of bases along its DNA
Each gene is a sequence of DNA nucleotide that codes for a specific polypeptide
What is the triplet code 
Each amino acid is coded for by a sequence of three bases called a triplet
How many possible DNA triplets are there

Give an overall summary of the genetic code 
It is non-overlapping- the sequence of DNA triplets codes for the specific sequence of amino acids, each triplet is read in sequence and separate from the one before and after it
It is degenerate- there are 20 amino acids and 64 possible combinations so some amino acids are coded for by more than one base triplet
It is universal- all living organisms have the same codons that code for the same 20 amino acids
The genetic code is described as degenerate. what does this mean? 
Many different triplet codes/ codons can code for the same amino acid
