• First stanza and last have 3 lines to try to bookend the poem
• "Half-caste" used as an adjective 4 times to reappropriate the use of it and interrogate what the listener perceives what it means
• Written phonetically as it was made to be a verbal poem
• Shies away from standard English writing + lack of punctuation to stay true to his culture
