• 3 - pushes on the sensory neurone
• 4 - deforms the stretch mediated sodium channel
• 5 - channel opens, Na+ ions diffuse in
• 6 - produces generator potential, which can trigger an action potential
• 7 - if generator potential reaches threshold, action potential is triggered
