  • RV is quite difficult to visualise by echo
  • What are the 4 standard acoustic views for echo?
    Parasternal
    Apical
    Sub-costal
    Suprasternal
  • What can you see from the suprasternal window?

    Aortic arch & descending aorta
  • Usually position patient's lying on their L side.
  • BART (blue away, red towards) -> colour coding for Doppler in USS
  • If you have acute PE, the RV will dilated (cannot compensate & hypertrophy in time)
  • Often when see dilated RV in a young patient, think atrial septal defect with R to L shunting.
