anterior/rostral - towards the nose
posterior/caudal - towards the feet
dorsal - top of the head/back
ventral - towards the front (stomach)
medial - close to the neuroaxis
lateral - away from the neuroaxis
ipsilateral - one the same side
contralateral - opposite sides of the neuroaxis
