Interactional synchrony

• Where caregiver and infant mirror both the actions and the emotions of the other, in a coordinated and synchronised way
• • Infant mirrors the actions of another person, for example, their facial expressions, body movements and emotions - moving their body in tune with the rhythm of their carer. • The word "synchrony" means "a simultaneous action or occurrence”.
• • The infant and caregiver are synchronised because they are moving in the same pattern.
