  • What was the aim ?
    To investigate whether there are gender differences in prejudice
  • The three types of hypotheses are :
    Directional - One tailed
    Non - directional - two tailed
    Null - a hypothesis that states there will be no difference / correlation

    A question with a yes or no response
  • What is an open question ?
    Allows for longer answers, to elaborate more on answers

    A question with varied , pre-made responses, using an agreement scale, such as slightly agree, strongly agree, disagree etc

  • How do you find the mode ?

    The value that comes up the most, repeats
  • How do you find the median ?
    Line up numbers from smallest to largest and find the middle value
  • How do you find the mean ?
    Add up all the values and divide by how many sets of values there are
  • How do you find the range ?
    Subtract the lowest value from the highest value
  • Strengths of Questionnaires - They are quick to complete and can be given/sent to more people to get a larger sample
  • Weakness of Questionnaires - participants may be dishonest due to the need of social desirability. May get bias responses if people answer in pattern. May get blank or limited responses to longer questions, especially if there is jargon or its difficult to understand
  • Weaknesses of Interviews - It takes longer than questionnaires so less participants can take part
  • Strengths of Interviews - You can ask follow-up questions if needed and it allows for clarification on any unclear responses
