Factors Affecting Obedience

• Locus of control can affect the way we obey to an authority figure
• Internal locus of control are less likely to obey an authority figure as they believe they make things happen to them
• External locus of control are more likely to open an authority figure as they believe that things happen to them
• Externals have lower control whereas internals have higher perception of control
• Authoritarian personality affects obedience as they have traditional values, threatened by social change and respect leaders and authority which makes them more likely to obey
