    In Act 1 Scene 4, the metaphor reflects his hamartia and how he is unable to ask God for help he has this consistent battle between what is right and wrong. Bad things happen in the dark therefore he wants to hide from God as he knows what he is doing is wrong.
  • What does the quote, "My dearest partner of greatness" suggest about Macbeth's and Lady Macbeth's relationship?
    In Act 1 Scene 5, the superlative represents an equal relationship between them and how Macbeth thinks highly of Lady Macbeth. This is not a normal Jacobean marriage.

    In Act 1 Scene 7, the simile emphasise how Duncan has good morals and how he is a good king which reflects how Macbeth is questioning whether he wants to commit this sin.
