• radio waves are mainly used for communication
• microwaves are used by satellites
• infrared can increase and monitor temperature
• fibre optic cables use visible light to transmit data
• ultraviolet radiation gives people tans
• x-rays and gamma rays are used for medical treatments
• low frequency waves (radio waves) don’t transfer much energy so they’re not harmful as it‘s not absorbed
• high frequency waves (gamma) transfer a lot of energy and can cause a lot of dammage
• high frequency waves can cause gene mutation/cell destruction and cancer
