TYPES OF TESTS

Cards (23)

    1. Nominal Data
    2. Test of difference
    3. Related
    Sign Test
  • How to calculate 'S' in the sign test
    1: add column 1
    2: add column 2
S is the smallest value of the 2 columns
  • How to calculate 'N' in the sign test
Use only the number of PPT's who have a difference in their scores.
    1. Nominal data
    2. Test of difference
    3. Unrelated
    Chi Squared test
  • Chi Squared test key terminology:
    • observed frequency = the results you collect in each condition
    • expected frequency = the results you expect to see if there was no association between the variables
  • How to calculate DF in the Chi-squared test
    (row - 1) x (column - 1)
    1. Ordinal Data
    2. Test of difference
    3. Unrelated
    Mann Whitney Test
  • What is Na/Nb or N1/N2 in the Mann Whitney test
Na = number of PPT's in group A
Nb = number of PPT's in group B
    1. Ordinal Data
    2. Test of difference
    3. Related
    Wilcoxon Test
  • How to calculate 'N' in the Wilcoxon test
    N = number of differences
    • do the same as the sign test - remove all PPT's whos scores showed no difference
    1. Ordinal Data
    2. Test of Association
    3. Related
    Spearman's Rho
  • What is different about Spearman's Rho and Pearsons - R Test
They are both tests of association, meaning they look at the correlation between variables rather than an experimental cause and effect
  • Correlations;
Near -1 = negative correlation (weak relationship)
Near 0 = no correlation (no relationship)
Near +1 = positive correlation (strong relationship)
    1. Interval Data
    2. Test of Difference
    3. Unrelated
    Unrelated T Test
    1. Interval Data
    2. Test of Difference
    3. Related Data
    Related T Test
    1. Interval Data
    2. Test of Association
    3. Interval Data
