  • Brain Stem
    Connects to the spinal cord. Carries motor and sensory nerves to the brain from the rest of the body and from the body to the brain via the spinal cord. Automatic system
  • Cerebellum
    'little brain' - important for movement and co-ordination. Co-ordination, sensory information and motor activity. Input into language and emotion. One of the lasts parts of the brain to mature.
  • Thalamus
    Located deep inside the brain. Hub of information, receiving and sending signals to the other parts of the brain. All thinking and processing happens here.

    Cognitive = frontal cortex, Sensory processing = visual and auditory areas, motor processing = motor area
