Increasing fertility

• • Hormones can be taken by woman to increase their fertility
  • Example; Some women have an FSH level that is too low to cause their eggs to mature
  • Means that no eggs are released and women can't get pregnant
• • Hormones FSH and LH can be injected by these women to stimulate egg maturation and release in their ovaries
  • These fertility drugs can help a lot of women to get pregnant when they couldn't
  • Often used during IVF too
• Problems with fertility drugs:

  • Don't always work - some women have to use the treatment many times, which can be expensive
  • Too many eggs could be stimulated, resulting in unexpected multiple pregnancies
