ERP (Event Related Potentials)

• Types of brainwaves that are triggered by particular events
• EEG’s include all neurological responses such as sensory, cognitive

  & motor events
• Here, stimuli we want to study is presented repeatedly
• ERP’s use a statistical averaging technique which filter out any extraneous variables – (but here we call it, ‘electrical noise’...)
• What is left over are the ‘Event-Related Potentials’
• Extraneous variables = Any other variables which we are IV ...in this case these are called: ‘electrical noise’
