Weaknesses

• Cannot tell whether commands are how God gave them


  No 'original' version (we must reconstruct) AND in the N.T = Greek when Jesus spoke Aramaic to crowds - lost in translation
• Bible seems to give immoral commands

  N.T: Letter of Paul to Titus - slaves should be "submissive to their masters" and no solution of which moral commands should be followed
• No autonomy 


  promise of Heaven - follow for self-interest
• The Euthyphro Dilemma 


  • 'Is conduct right because God commands it, or does God command it because it's right?'
  • First option: God loses moral goodness
  • Second option: God loses omnipotence
