  The secondary labour market refers to jobs with low pay and poor security and promotion prospects. (women)

  • Women’s position in the labour market is lost and is permanently kept out by male workers.
  • Women are denied access to certain things in society and men have more access.
  • Women are the negatively privileged group.

  1. Vertical segregation – Men dominate highest ranking jobs, and women are in certain jobs that don’t require intellect.
  2. Horizontal segregation – Refers to differences in the number of males and females in an occupation. Women are in the secondary sector, so kids in school see that and do what they see. In a job type, women are in the bottom end of the job type, and men are always at the top.
