Cell Cycle of Euklaryotes

Cards (3)

  • The first stage of the cell cycle is INTERPHASE
    • Cell grows
    • Number of sub-cellular structures like mitochondria replicates
    • DNA replicates to form 2 copies of each chromosome (ordered in size)
    • Further growth occurs and DNA is checked for errors, any repairs needed are made
  • The second stage of the cell cycle is MITOSIS
    • Chromosomes move to opposite poles (left and right) and the nucleus divides
    • Genetic material is split into 2
  • The third stage of the cell cycle is CYTOKINESIS
    • Cytoplasm splits into 2 and cell membrane reforms to give 2 genetically identical daughter cells.
