  Stimulus -> Receptor -> Coordinator Centre (CNS) -> Effector
• Describe how information passes across synapses


  1. Electrical impulse passes presynaptic cell
  2. Synaptic vesicles are triggered to release neurotransmitters
  3. Neurotransmitters diffuse across synapse
  4. Neurotransmitters bind to receptors on postsynaptic cell
  5. Another electrical impulse is triggered and continues

  
• Reflex actions are rapid, automatic responses to stimuli that do not involve the conscious part of the brain and only go to the spinal cord
