Types of Data

• quantitative data?

  * numerical data

  (+) easy to analyse and look for patterns

  (-) lacks construct validity as it narrows things to just numbers
• qualitative data?

  * words or anything non numerical

  (+) more valid as it's rich and detailed

  (-) more open to interpretation so not as objective
• primary data?

  (+) well focused on aim of study

  (-) can be influenced by psychologist collecting it
• secondary data?

  (+) gives psychologist access to people they wouldn't be able to investigate directly

  (-) less reliable bc psychologist isn't there to verify how true/accurate it is
