The US government is split up into 3 different branches. There are the Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Each of them has their own powers and responsibilities and at some points they are able to perform checks on each other to ensure power is evenly distributed. sometimes, one branch may be more dominant. The president’s key powers, such as acting as being commander in chief, issuing vetoes, passing executive orders, and the power of appointment in relation to the supreme court, are all subject to checks by the other branches to prevent any one branch from becoming too dominant.
