Breathing isn't respiration, but it does provide the necessary oxygen for respiration to happen in our cells
The air we inhale moves down the trachea into the bronchi then bronchioles and ends up in the alveoli.
alveoli
tiny air sacks where it defuses into the blood vessels around it
found on the tips oh bronchioles (in the lungs)
they are bumpy meaning they have a largesurfacearea to allow gasexchange to occur at a fastrate.
the oxygen diffuses into the blood stream and then binds to the haemoglobin (a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body and gives blood its red colour) in red blood cells to be transported
they then transport it into every cell in the body to be used for respiration
carbon dioxide made from respiration is dissolved into the plasma of the blood
which then diffuses into the blood and is exhaled (it is the same for water)
