  • Google slides -  allows you to show and compile your work in a visual way
  • to start using google slides:
    • go to google drive
    • click on new
    • google slides
  • Themes pane
    • located at the right side of the screen
    • where you can select or import a theme for your presentation
  • Slides home - directs you to the Google Slides home
  • Presentation name - shows the name of the presentation
  • Menu bar - contains different menus each with its own drop-down menu
  • Toolbar - contains tools for editing elements in the presentation
  • two types of toolbars:
    • Standard
    • Formatting
  • Formatting toolbar - changes depending on the selected element.
  • Comments button - allows you and your collaborators to view existing comments, as well as add comments on a slide or element in the presentation for others to see
  • Present button - switches to presentation mode
  • Share button - allows you to share your presentation with other people
  • Google account button - shows the user account currently logged in to Google
  • Slides pane - displays the number of slides in the presentation and the thumbnail of each slide
  • two ways to view the slide thumbnails:
    • filmstrip
    • grid
  • Slide area - shows the slide you are currently working on. Anything you put in this space will be seen when you present your presentation.
  • Speaker notes - where you can place your notes for your presentation. This part is NOT SEEN by the audience during the presentation.
  • Import slides -  easy way to reuse slides from existing presentations
  • to import slides:
    • go to file
    • import slides
  • 3 types of preset sizes in google slides:
    • Standard 4:3
    • Widescreen 16:9
    • Widescreen 16:10
  • line - made up of several points. You can use it to add designs and create flowcharts in your presentation
  • to add a line:
    • click on the line tool in the toolbar
    • click and drag
  • line weight ranges from 1px to 24px
  • to create a curve:
    • select curve
    • add points
    • double-click to finish
  • to add a polyline:
    • click polyline
    • add points
    • adjust
    • double-click to finish
  • several ways to insert a slide:
    • insert ► new slide
    • slide ► new slide
    • click the new slide button (+)
    • Ctrl + M
  • several ways to delete slide:
    • go the slide you want to delete ► editdelete
    • slide ► delete slide
    • go to slides paneright-click on the slide you want to delete ► delete
    • select the slide you want to delete from slides pane ► press delete on your keyboard
  • to choose a layout for your presentation:
    • click on layout in the toolbar
    • choose from available layouts
  • Title slide layout - commonly used as the first slide for most presentations. It contains title and subtitle placeholders.
  • Section header - used when a new topic is added or will be discussed in the presentation.
  • Title and body layout - used for slides that contain mostly text.
  • Title and two columns layout - used for slides that contain mostly text. This is best used when comparing or describing two different subjects.
  • Title only layout - used for slides that contain minimal text so you can add other elements, such as images, shapes, videos, etc. 
  • One-column text layout - best used when you are describing or discussing an element, which can be placed beside the text placeholders.
  • Main point layout - used to emphasize a specific topic or object.
  • Section title and description layout - used when you need to introduce a new section that further explains the topic.
  • Caption layout - used for slides that contain elements that need caption.
  • Caption - used to add a title or brief explanation of an element.
  • Big number layout - used to emphasize numbers, such as statistics
  • Blank layout - does not contain anything, which means it can have flexible content.
