  • Relationships
    The ATTRIBUTES or collection of ties among the actors from a particular group of social entities.
  • Relationships are the labels that make a reason why we interact with one another. Example: teacher
  • Connections
    The point of contact in relationship. It is the range of connections that link any two actors that are wide ranging.
  • Connections are the actions that put people in contact with each other. It is the basis of relationships
  • Relationships key points
    • Relationships emerge over time with repeated connections between people
    • Not every attempt to make a connection results in a relationship
    • Turning connections into relationships is an essential part of engagement / for higher connection

    A set of units like nerves, species, individuals, institutions, or states. A network shows a relationships between nodes.
  • Social/Ego network
    Consists of a focal node (ego) and the nodes to whom ego is directly connected to (alters) plus the ties if any among the alters.
  • In understanding networks, it is imperative to understand connections among social units including the effects or outcomes associated with these connectors
  • Actors
    Other term for nodes and vertices, they are the discrete individuals or collective social units.
  • Actor attributes
    The characteristics that give additional information about the actors. These define the actors.
  • Social networks
    It is made up of a "subset of nodes" that are organized through their ties with each other
