• The first successful atom bomb test took place a day before Potsdam on the 16th of July 1945
• The atom bomb had been developed in secrecy
• Once Truman new the weapon worked, he told Stalin about it
• Stalin's spies had been informing him by 1942 about the construction of the atom bomb
• On the 6th of August 1945, the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima
• On the 9th of August 1945, the second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki
