    • Rats and Lice were common in the trenches, soldiers would often find lice in their uniform.
    • As a result of lots of rats and lice, disease would spread very quickly.
  • Soldiers had to live in cramped quarters with little privacy or personal space.
  • The trenches had very poor drainage systems which would result in flooding.
  • Soldiers would develop trench foot after standing in cold, dirty and wet conditions for long periods of time. In the worst cases they would have to get their foot amputated.
