• The building contained 5 clothing workshops
• 2438 people were evacuated and 1100 people died
• Workers were sent back to the factories to complete orders, despite major cracks appearing overnight
• Many majors TNCs (such as Walmart and Matalan) regularly outsourced clothing offers to Rana Plaza
• British TNCs have signed the accord, which is a legally binding agreement on worker safety
• The accord means safety checks are regularly carried out to ensure worker safety. However, there are many production facilities which aren’t regulated under the accord
