    • women played a significant role in the war by taking on many of the roles vacated by men who were fighting. Women impressed men with their work ethic and professionalism. Women's activism in the rent strikes in Scotland showed they were politically aware and they could succeed in making positive changes to society.
    • The Liberal government passed the Representation of the People Act 1918, which gave all women over 30 the right to vote.
  • By 1928, all men and women over the age of 21 were given the vote - the first time in British history where men and women were able to vote on equal footing.
  • the vote was also given to an additional 13 million men in 1918. Men who had fought in WW1 were allowed to vote from 19, and any other men could vote from 21.
