  • Damage to his hippocampus and subsequently his short term memory was caused by a viral infection
  • His short term memory had a duration of around 2 minutes
  • His long term memory is still intact which we know based off of the fact that he can still write and still recognise his wife alongside the love he has for her
  • He is unable to create new memories due to the infection he had
  • When he asked he couldn't remember that he could play the piano however when he was in front of one he could play it well
  • The Multi Store Memory model cannot explain this due to its unitary assumptions of stores
