• Statutory instruments (SIs):

  • Where government departments create new laws through DL
  • Make up most of the 3000 pieces of DL each year
  • The legal office of the relevant Government Department will draft these
  • They then consult interested bodies + Parties
  • Passed via either affirmative/negative resolution
  • E.g. Department of Transport = change/introduce new road signs.
  • E.g. Health + Safety Executive = introduce new safety law.
