    Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink, Refuse, Repair
  • What does it mean to recycle?

    Reprocess a material or product and make something else, put used recycled products in recycling bins
  • Why can it be difficult to recycle sometimes?

    Some materials need to be separated. Some are too difficult to separate so therefore cannot be recycled
  • What does it mean to reuse?

    Use a product to make something else with all/some parts of it
  • What does it mean to repair?

    When a product breaks down or doesn’t work properly, fix it instead of buying a new product
  • What does it mean to reduce?

    Cut down the amount of materials and energy you use as much as you can, reduce the amount of consumable products you use
  • What does it mean to rethink?

    “Do we make to many products?”, ”Do we actually need the things we buy?”, design in a way that considers people and the environment
  • What does it mean to refuse?

    Don’t use a material or buy a product if you don’t need it or if it’s bad for people or the environment, refuse plastic carrier bags and unnecessary packaging when offered
  • What is the lifetime of a product?
    Resources -> Raw Materials -> Manufacturing -> Use -> Landfill
  • What can be done to extend the lifespan of a product?

    Increase durability, repair, upgrade, re-manufacture, recycle
