    • letters:
      • correct salutation and ending(name + yours sincerely OR no name + yours faithfully)
      • correct and appropriate tone for your reader which is normally a formal tone
      • first paragraph outlines purpose of letter
      • two and three paragraphs developing your points
      • conclusion that sums up your points and refers to purpose
    • article:
      • decide on a clear point of view, either a balanced approach or a biased approach favouring one particular view
      • use direct, informative language, suitable for your readers. This should mostly be factual but can include some opinions.
      • use subject-related vocabulary
      • use some persuasive devices such as an anecdote, hyperbole, triplets
    • review:
      • tone will be dependent on your audience and POV.

    • talk/speech:
      • engaging opening to suit the audience
      • structured argument
      • memorable conclusion
      • an engaged, persuasive confident tone

      • objective language(state facts rather than opinions)
      • provide relevant information in an ordered way, using sub-titles, bullet points
      • standard English with subject-related vocabulary
      • a formal and unbiased tone
