  The amount by which a measurement can vary without affecting the ability of the product to be manufactured accuracy.

• To help speed up quality, a special tool called go / no gauge used and set to a minimum or maximum tolerance and will indicate if a piece has been produced within tolerance.

  By taking a sample of the population, measuring each part of body in detail, then taking a average and the data represented in percentiles to ensure product fits majority of market.

  Study of human interactions with products.
• What does ergonomics do?


  Deals with issues such as ease of use, comfort, safety and prevent repetitive strain injury.

  When a designer becomes stuck in a rut and only produces a range of similar designs.
• Design fixation often comes from fear of making mistakes and avoidance of taking risks.
