  • Health is a state of mental and physical wellbeing.
  • What is a communicable disease?
    A disease that can be spread from person to person.
  • Give example of communicable diseases:

    Measles and Malaria.
  • Non-communicable diseases cannot be spread bettween peole and generally last for a long time and get worse slowly.
  • Give examples of non-communicable diseases:

    Cancer, asmtha and coronary heart disease.
  • People who have problems with their immune system have an increased chance of suffering communicable diseases, because their body is less likely to defend itself against pathogens.
  • Pathogen = a microorganism that can cause a disease when it infects a host.
  • Immune system reactions in the body caused by infection of a pthogen can sometimes trigger allergic reactions such as skin rashes or worsen the symptoms of asmtha for asmths sufferers.
  • Mental health issues such as depression can be triggered when someone is suffering from severe physical health problems, especially is they have an impact on the person's ability to carry out everyday activities.
  • factors which can affect your health:
    • Good, balanced diet
    • Stress
    • Life situation e.g access to health care, buying healthy food or contraception.
  • Whsy is Influenza classed as a communicable disease?

    It is spread from person to person.
  • Risk factors a linked to an increase in the likelihood of developing certain diseases.
  • Risk factors often affect a person lifestyle ( e.g. excersize).
