  A means of expressing a number by focusing on the overall size (magnitude) - the number is expressed in terms of powers of 10

• How do you reduce a fraction?


  By dividing the numerator and the denominator by the lowest common denominator
• What are two types of ratios?


  1. Part-to-whole ratios - show number of something out of the total

  e.g. 13 participants out of 20 = 13:20

  2. Part-to-part ratios - e.g. comparing the number of participants in each condition

  - 12 participants in condition A and 15 participants in condition B = 12:15
