Neurons

    Cards (4)

    • The 3 neurons are motor relay and sensory
    • Motor neurons are found in the CNS and have long axons which forms part of PSN and controls muscle movement. When stimulated they release neurotransmitters that bind to receptors on effectors (muscles) to trigger movement. They have a long axon coated with myelin sheath and the cell nody is at the end of the neuron
    • Sensory neurons are found in the sensory receptors (skin) and carry nerve impulses to CSN. The brain translates these impulses into sensations ( vision, hearing, taste, touch). Not all neurons reach the brain as some stop at the spinal cord - reflex action. The call body is in the middle of an axon.
    • Relay neurons are found in the CNS and allows sensory and motor neurons to communicate. They travel through the spi9nal cord. They have a long thin axon to carry impulses with the cell body at the end. They have lots of dendrites.
