  • What are biomes?

    Biomes are large-scale ecosystems that have distinctive vegetation. Different regions of the world have different climates and different eco-systems.
  • Hot desert-
    -is 15 degrees- 35 degrees north
    -South of the equator
    -Almost no rainfall
    -temperatures are very high in the day and freezing at night e.g the Sahara desert
    -Has cactuses and other plants with evolutionary adaptations to deal with the lack of water
  • Grasslands-
    >is usually found between +23.5° and -23.5%deg; latitude.
    > there is a wet and a dry season and as you would expect, the dominant vegetation is grass.
    >There are few trees
    >E.G The American Midwest, the Argentinian pampas and South Africa >Savannah grasslands are found between the tropics.
    >Temperate grasslands are found at higher latitudes.
