Deforestation, hunting and fishing

• deforestation is the permanent removal of large areas of forests
• in recent years, the increase in the human population and development of industrial machinery has meant that much larger spaces of land has been cleared
• this land cleared is often by big companies who deforest to provide land for cattle, rice fields and growing crops for biofuel.
• deforestation destroys the habitats of the organisms that live there and through this kills individual's of many species
• hunting decrease the population of the species that is being hunted. this can remove food for other species or mean that some plats may grow more than usual as they are being eaten less
• Africa is home the the largest population on rhino in the world, but poaching has brough the rhino close to extinction
• poaching is illegal hunting
• some scientists things that as much as 85% of the world's fish populations have been overfished
• overfishing can cause a critical point in populations that means a certain species cannot ever recover and will eventually become extinct
