      An abnormal mass of cells that forms when a group of cells undergo uncontrolled growth and division
    • What are the 2 types of tumours?

      benign & malignant
    • What is a benign tumour?

      • Growths of abnormal cells that are contained in one area - usually within a membrane
      • Do not invade other parts of the body - not considered cancers
    • What is malignant tumour?

      • cancers
      • invade neighbouring tissues
      • spread to different parts of the body - via blood, where they for secondary tumours
    • What is Cancer?

      The result of changes in cells that lead to uncontrolled growth & division
    • What have scientists identified for various types of cancer?
      Lifestyle risk factors - there are also genetic risk factors for some cancers
