  • describe in detail a role of msps in constituencys - hold surgeries
One role of an MSP in constituencies is
    to hold surgeries.
This is when an MSP invites members
of their constituency to share their
    concerns. Constituents might want to
talk to their MSP about a devolved
    issue, such as healthcare.
For example, our MSP Kenneth Gibson
    regularly held surgeries in his
constituency office in Dalry before the
    pandemic.
  • describe in detail a role of msps in constituencys - attend events
Another role of MSPs is to attend social events.
MSPs are invited to social events, which allows them to get to know
their constituents and raise their profile. MSPs are often asked to
attend local schools, hospitals, factories, etc.
For example, Kenneth Gibson made a school visit to Garnock Community
Campus in November 2021, to speak to the young people about the
    Scottish Parliament.
  • describe one role of msps in a constituency - fact finding missions
One last role of an MSP is to go on fact
    finding missions.
When a constituent raises an issue, an MSP
may have to visit somewhere to see first
hand what the problem is. An MSP will
research important issues and meet with
experts in order to understand key issues.
For example, Kenneth Gibson spoke to local
constituents in Kilbirnie, Beith and Dalry
about building the new Garnock Community
    Campus.
