ROGERS & CLIENT CENTRED THERAPY

Cards (1)

  • ROGERS & CLIENT-CENTRED THERAPY:
    • Ideal self & self-concept must have congruence (match / be equivalent to)
    • Too big of a gap- incongruence, self-actualisation not possible
    • Client-centred therapy- reduces the gap, helps people cope with everyday issues
    • Issues in adulthood- have roots in childhood, can be explained by “conditions of worth” (e.g. parents are only love you if you get an A*, if you get an A, no love)
    • During client-centred therapy, the patients receive unconditional positive regard, finding ways to resolve their issues, learn more about themselves and achieve self-actualisation
