  Chemical molecules released directly into the blood
• What does pituitary gland do?


  Produces many hormones that regulate body conditions
• Why is pituitary gland called "master gland"?


  These hormones act on other glands, directing them to release hormones that bring about change
• What does throid do?


  Produces thyroxine and it is involved in regulating rate of metabolism, heart rate and temperature
• What does adrenal gland do?


  Produces adrenaline which is used to prepare the body for a "fight or flight" response
• What do ovaries do?


  Produce oestrogen which is involved in the menstrual cycle
• What does pancreas do?


  Produces insulin which is used to regulate the blood glucose level
• What does testes do?


  Produce testerone, which controls puberty and sperm production in males
