    Findings
The results revealed that post-event discussion had a significant effect on the accuracy of eyewitness testimony.
    • In the experimental condition, 71% of participants recalled at least one piece of incorrect information that they had not personally witnessed but had learned during the discussion with their partner.
    • 60% of participants in the experimental condition incorrectly stated that the woman was guilty of stealing, even if their perspective had not shown her committing the crime and therefore they had not directly witnessed the crime taking place.
  • In contrast:
    • In the control condition (which did not engage in post-event discussion), demonstrated far fewer inaccuracies in their recall. Participants rarely reported details they could not have seen themselves. The accuracy of their recall was notably higher, and memory distortions were far less frequent.
  • These results were consistent across age groups, with both younger and older participants showing similar susceptibility to memory conformity. These findings indicate that memory conformity occurs when individuals integrate information from external sources into their own recollection, even when it contradicts their original memory of the event.
